The band Barbar’O’Rhum is created by Mathieu (ex-Les Compagnons du Gras Jambon, ex-Libertalia) who had several compositions. His aim was to make a band mixing Celtic Punk and Pirate Folk Metal.
Boris (ex-Natural Mortica) on the bass guitar, Colin (ex-Natural Mortica) on the keyboards, Corentin on the guitar and Richard (ex-Libertalia, ex-Brick a Drac) on the drums join the project in April 2014.
With this line-up, the band plays its first concerts during the second semester of 2014. Jérémy replaces Boris on the bass guitar in June 2015. A first album, called Toutes les Routes Mènent au Rhum, is released the 1st July 2016. Sonia (ex-Libertalia, ex-Tan Elleil) on the hurdy-gurdy in 2017 and Benjamin on the guitar in 2018 rejoin the band and there are now 7 musicians on stage. Finally, Loïc replaces Richard on the drums in December 2019. The band is recording the second album and it will be released in 2020.
With an average from 20 to 35 concerts by year since 2015, Barbar’O’Rhum has played more than 130 shows in France, in Germany, in Belgium and in Italy.
They have in particular anchored the Festival-Mediaval in Germany (September 2019, with Eluveitie, Leaves' Eyes, Heilung ...), the Autumn Moon Festival in Germany (October 2017, with Faun, Letzte Instanz, Celtica - Pipes Rock! ...), the Festival Maritim in Germany (July/August 2015), the Celtic Days in Italy (July 2017), the Mast'O Poine Festival in Belgium (May 2016), the Festival Interceltique de Lorient (August 2017), the Festival Pause Guitare (July 2015), the Toulouse Game Show (November 2019), the Geek Faëries (June 2017 and June 2019), the Festival Imaginales (May 2018), the Geek Touch (April 2017), the Festival Echos & Merveilles (April 2018, with Faun, Luc Arbogast, Les Compagnons du Gras Jambon ...), the Festival Rock'en Pleurs (May 2019), the Festival Nuits Salines (July 2016, with Soldat Louis and the Bagad de Lann-Bihoué) and the Fête du Cassoulet (August 2019, with Natasha Saint-Pier, Olympe, Lio ...).
