Biographie : Legal Weapon
Formed in 1980 by vocalist Kat Arthur and guitarist Brian Hansen, Legal Weapon was a fixture on the L.A. punk and rock scene for much of the following two decades. Featuring such supporting players as bassists Patricia Morrison (The Bags, Gun Club, The Damned), Steve Soto (Agent Orange, The Adolescents), and Sharon Needles (Betty Blowtorch), guitarist Frank Agnew (The Adolescents), and drummers Adam Maples (Sea Hags) and Derek O'Brien (Social Distortion), Legal Weapon expanded from their punk roots to create memorable songs in a variety of rock genres, ranging from punk (1982's "Death of Innocence" LP) to polished pop-rock (1985's "Interior Hearts") to roaring hard rock (1994's "Squeeze Me Like an Anaconda" and 2002's comeback CD "Legal Weapon").
Best remembered for Kat Arthur's fiery vocals and dominating stage presence, Legal Weapon was long considered a standout among Hollywood punk bands.
While Arthur's vocal range and songwriting abilities, as well as Hansen's above-average musicianship, briefly positioned them for pop success (the band was courted by both A&M and MCA in the mid 80s), Legal Weapon would always return to the driving punk sound they were famous for.
