Joey Barnes (Joseph Matthew Barnes) was born August 13, 1976 in Greensboro, NC. Most widely known for his drumming gig with Daughtry, (2006–2010) Barnes signed with independent label Nascent Republic Records in 2008 and has had four releases: Always (2009), Last Request (2009), Change (2009) and a cover of Wham’s single "Last Christmas" (2010). All four releases were recorded at Seawell Studios, just outside of Greensboro. Change was featured on VH1’s top 20 Countdown in January 2010 for donating a portion of its proceeds to LA-based charity, NextAid.
